The 2024 Llano Yellow Jackets season was a wonderful success. The third winningest season in school history will live in the minds and hearts of these players forever. And most important, the seniors leave not only with just the records, but memories that will be talked about 50 years from now.
What were the best three year periods in our schools history? Well, we have them right here. The seniors, many were on the team for three years…and most all were on the sidelines when they were sophomores and Llano was playing in the quarterfinals in 2022.
THREE YEAR PERIOD NUMBER OF WINS TOTAL WINS
2020-21-22 13,8,13 34
2022-23-24 13,5,12 30
1995-96-97 9,8,11 28
1994-95-96 10,9,8 27
The pride that the players will carry forward comes down to statistics many times. The 2024 offense had 5,573 total yards in their 14 games played,. An average of 398 yards per game. That production on offense is winning football. And those yards sometimes come hard. And the hardest comes from players many of us never notice, much less know their names. Working hard in obscurity takes a special player. Just doing ones job sometimes can make for a long season. But, as I have said before, when you have a running back as good as Trey Mote who can take advantage of great blocking. And know for sure that Trey knows, but also Coaches know.
It is my understanding, and it may be wrong, but All District teams are chosen by “other Coaches”…not Llano Coaches. Opposition Coaches know who is good. And they know their names.
Over 5,000 yards in offense did not come by accident. And to prove that Coaches were paying attention, let’s look at the players that block for a living.

It is comforting to know that the Jackets will return six very good football players that know how to block. In a few days I will talk and recognize the skill players and their rewards, with statistics. Still a long way to go with putting in numbers into the record book…have put some in…but many to go. Please go to the record book and help with additions and corrections. It’s on the internet.
