3-0 Jackets Romp On Mustangs

The 2025 Llano Yellow Jackets raced to a 3-0 record here in the early part of season by winning 50-18 over our close neighbors, Marble Falls. The first out of town game was one of three Llano faces in a row. Marble Falls falls to 0-3 for the season.

For the second week in a row the Jackets fell behind on the score board in the first quarter, and for the second week in a row, it was not until the second quarter that Llano was able to take the lead. The Jackets 22 points in the second quarter furled Llano on to a 21 point third quarter and the Jackets won…going away.

Llano had four rushers that combined to run up 135 yards on the ground. Senior Jose Sillas had 14 carries and 48 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Brayton Shaw had 5 carries and 44 yards, followed by senior River Thomison with 4 carries and 29 yards.

But the offense this week came off the arm of junior quarterback Luke Davis. Luke’s 359 passing yards made the record book, as did the 212 yards receiving by junior Cash Lynch, along with two catches for TDs. Shaw, Graham Prokop, Josiah Wood, Austin Humphries all had catches. Brady Kelly had three catches and 65 yards with a TD catch, and senior Konrad Zwicke had a 34 yard TD catch. Luke now has 14 TD passes in the first three games this season. That’s some pass protection on that offensive line.

The numbers have looked great up to this point in our young season. No one can tell if we have played a good team yet. Lytle has won a game since we played them in the opener, and Comanche won this past weekend. Still, no real yard stick. That changes this week

One veteran observer of the Yellow Jacket program said before the season began that the team to watch is Jarrell…they are 4-AAAA, and in one of the toughest Districts in the State. The Cougars were 6-4 last season, and that is not bad when you play Wimberley, Lago Vista and Geronimo Navarro every year. Their fourth loss last year was to the Jackets. A slow start is not advised. Jarrell lead Llano at halftime last year. Remember, Llano only won that context by one score, and we were playing them in Jacket Stadium. This game will be a yard stick.

The running game of the Cougars will be brutal. Their best running back, Jaysen Hobbs weighs in at 190 pounds is starting his third season. Their defense was remarkable improved last year with a new Coach. Expect more improvement this week.

Llano gets down to the hard stuff this week. It is like the Cougars are waiting for their chance to redeem themselves after three straight losses to the Jackets. The Jacket defense will have their hardest test…keeping the Cougars under 21 points, and Llano will win.

Llano 35 Jarrell 20
